Day 12: MP 158 to Idyllwild

April 8, 2014

Up with the sunrise and on the trail by 7am. Climbed a couple miles to the summit ridge of the San Jacinto Mountains where I stopped for breakfast with a view. Leon caught up and we hiked the ridge the last couple miles to the fire closure at the Cedar Spring junction. Stopped for a quick snack before descending the Cedar Spring trail to Morris Ranch Rd. Followed Morris Ranch Rd six miles back to the Palms-to-Pines Hwy. Hitched into the quaint town of Idyllwild with Leon and Matt from New York where I got a room at the Idyllwild Inn. Joined them for lunch at the Idyllwild Pizza Co. Ran errands in the afternoon: grocery for supplies (fresh fruit and Gatorade mix), library for internet, then laundry, and post office to mail some unneeded supplies home.
